Curriculum Components

The course consists of 18 modules of instructional content broken down into respective lessons. Each module contains detailed lectures and notes, animated video lectures, interactive activities, real-world clinical cases, classmate interaction, laboratory simulations, constant feedback, and support from instructors.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) National NHA Exam


The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is a national certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), the largest allied health certification organization in the U.S., with over one million certifications awarded over over 30 years. This exam validates medical assistants' skills and demonstrates their dedication to the profession. According to the 2020 Industry Outlook produced by the NHA, 89% of employers require or encourage certification for medical assistants and 63% increase pay when certification is obtained. This course includes a voucher for the CCMA certification exam at no additional cost.

After completing the course, you can sit for the national NHA certification exam at a PSI testing center or proctor online. 

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a Clinical Medical Assistant.

  • Perform essential clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering injections, and assisting with minor surgical procedures.

Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) National Exam

After completing the course, you can sit for AMCA the nationally accredited certification exam. AMCA has hundreds of approved test sites across the US. Depending on the test site, hours of operation and exam administration times could vary. However, all AMCA exams are administered between 8:30 AM and 9:00 PM respective to the time zone.

  • WHAT DOES A CERTIFIED CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CCMA) JOB INVOLVE?

    Certified clinical medical assistants serve in a variety of functions that combine office operations and patient procedures. CCMA's may coordinate patient scheduling, facilitate office visits and manage patient records, including Electronic Health Records (EHR). They may also assist with exams and procedures such as EKG, phlebotomy, and laboratory procedures.

  • IS CCMA THE SAME AS CNA?

    While CCMAs may serve in a variety of roles in the healthcare setting, including office processes, clinical procedures and patient management, Certified Nurses Assistants (CNAs) work full-time with patients and may help with basic care activities such as dressing, bathing, and moving patients while they are under medical care.

  • WHAT IS JOB OUTLOOK FOR CCMAs

    The healthcare field offers one of the leading areas of opportunities for career growth today. Within healthcare, medical assistants are among the most in-demand professionals. NHA estimates that job openings for medical assistants are increasing by 9-15% each year. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics concurs with the NHA estimate.
