Course Objectives

Phlebotomy technicians collect blood samples for laboratory testing and play a vital role in diagnosing and treating diseases. If you are interested in getting into healthcare without spending years in school, if you are a Pre-health student looking to gain clinical experience, and if you are a foreign healthcare educated who wants to get into the USA healthcare system, this course will be the perfect fit for you. 

This course can be completed online.  The course curriculum includes principles of proper phlebotomy technique, specimen processing, point of care testing, compassionate patient care, maintenance and use of equipment, record keeping and documentation, basic principles of anatomy and physiology, disease process, therapeutic communication, hazardous materials management, and patient assessment.

You must pass the online certification exam to receive your Phlebotomy Technician Certification upon course completion. Our online classes offer national accrediting exams allowing students to work as phlebotomists.

The course consists of 8 modules of instructional content broken down into respective lessons.

Phlebotomy Internship Requirements

Phlebotomy Technicians must complete a clinical of 30 venipunctures as a part of the Phlebotomy Technician clinical core requirements to graduate from our program. Each draw must be supervised and signed off on a blood draw log and externship forms that will be provided to the student.

Urgent care centers, doctor’s offices, hospitals, and other clinics are popular internship locations. We recommend students begin their internship by the end of module eight. Virtual alternatives are available for those who cannot find an internship in their area.
